Travel Awards

The North American Moose Group (which publishes the journal Alces) is offering travel awards to help offset the costs of attending the North American Moose Conference for both “Newcomers” and “Seniors.”

“NEWCOMERS" TRAVEL AWARDS
($4,000.00 CDN)

In an effort to encourage new attendees at the North American Moose Conference and Workshop who will report on recent studies of moose ecology and who will submit a manuscript for possible publication in the journal Alces, the North American Moose Group will provide up to $4,000.00 CDN (approximately $2,900 US at current exchange rates) to the local organizing committee to cover the costs associated with attendance at the annual meeting for young researchers. It is expected that employers or sponsors of the applicants will also assist with travel costs.

Eligibility: Anyone who has not attended more than one or two previous North American Moose Conferences and who wishes to prepare a manuscript and present a paper at the annual meeting. This could include government or private agency biologists/managers, faculty and graduate students at a university, or anyone newly established and anxious to report results of original research relating to the biology and management of moose. Priority will be given to individuals who have never attended a Moose Conference or have attended only once.

American Moose Conference and Workshop to a retiree who will present a paper, prepared in advance, for possible publication in the journal Alces.

Eligibility: A retired researcher or manager who is no longer formally associated with a supporting agency or institution and who wishes to prepare a manuscript and present a paper at the annual meeting.
